Lorna is BACK!

Lorna Gow, originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, has been dancing and teaching Egyptian style Bellydance professionally since 1996.

She was teaching up to 25 regular weekly classes across the country, until March 2006 when she packed up and moved to Cairo, Egypt, to be a professional dancer there. You can read all about her experiences of living in Cairo, Dance and Otherwise, on her Blog- A vital read for anyone who has ever dreamed of what it might be like to be a dancer in Egypt!

Lorna is the first ever Scottish bellydancer to be working professionally in Cairo and the only Brit currently doing so! Although Lorna performs at weddings and parties around Egypt, her 'regular' job is performing on the cruising restaurant, the Nile Pharaoh. The rest of her time in Cairo is spent teaching (private classes and workshops) and generally learning as much as she can about the language, culture, music and dance.

Lorna's dance style has developed over years of being a professional performer in Cairo and internationally, performing to both Egyptians and non-Egyptians and she returns to the UK every so often to teach workshops and pass on the 'Cairo knowledge!' As a teacher, Lorna's extensive experience has allowed her to develop a unique teaching style like nobody else. Her workshops usually ring with the gasps of 'Eureka' moments, and students typically report back that their dancing dramatically improves from the moment they leave the class with the inspiration she instills.

Lorna's workshops are highly accessible but challenging, whether you are a recent beginner, stuck in a rut, or a professional dancer seeking a fresh perspective.
